The Unrefined Jagoff’s Top 10 (Well, 12) Albums of 2019.

I said I wasn’t going to do a Top Ten Albums of 2019 list, so here’s a Top Twelve Albums of 2019 list!

-Memoriam – Requiem for Mankind
-BlackQueen – The Destructive Cycle
-Devil Master – Satan Spits on Children of Light
-Joey Molinaro – Tale of the Lovelorn Outlaw
-Surfbort – Billy / You Don’t Exist
-Alphanumeric – Condemnation of Memory
-Armor – Some Kind of War
-Pile – Green and Gray
-Sanguisugabogg – Pornographic Seizures
-Malignant Altar – Retribution of Jealous Gods
-Skullcrush – Archaic Towers of Annihilation

2019 saw a lot of great death metal and punk releases, and I’m sure I missed a lot, but this is what I came up with when making my list.

In case you’re unfamiliar with any of these:

MemoriamRequiem for Mankind
Karl Willetts, heavy death metal riffs, definitely check out “The Veteran.” How could I not like this?

BlackQueenThe Destructive Cycle
“Witch metal” greatness returns with some guest vocals from Paul Pavlovich from Assück. Pete Jay never disappoints.

Devil MasterSatan Spits on Children of Light
Some of the most fun and catchy punky/black metal-ish songs of this year, at one point I listened to this on repeat at work for like a week.

Joey MolinaroTale of the Lovelorn Outlaw
If you haven’t checked out Joey Molinaro yet, you’re really missing out. One man, his violin, stomped wild beats, and on past albums grindcore/hardcore vocals, but more clean singing on this release. One of the best live solo performers I’ve ever seen.

SurfbortBilly / You Don’t Exist
This is two different releases from one artist, but I’ve loved everything Surfbort has put out in the short time they’ve been around. One of my favorite recent punk bands– super fun!

AlphanumericCondemnation of Memory
Another thing with Paul from Assück, his current grind band’s debut album!

ArmorSome Kind of War
This sounds like a bunch of my other favorite hardcore albums, but in a good way. Like Impalers.

PileGreen and Gray
A mix of their post-hardcore and softer songs, but they go all out screaming on “The Soft Hands of Stephen Miller.” Saw them live over the summer with C.H.E.W., ThirdFace, and Blacker Face. Every single band ruled.

SanguisugaboggPornographic Seizures
Low tuned, super heavy death metal.

Malignant AltarRetribution of Jealous Gods
More low tuned, super heavy death metal. Reminds me of Morpheus Descends, can’t wait to hear more from them.

SkullcrushArchaic Towers of Annihilation
I can’t get enough of the pummeling mid-rangey death metal riffs. A bit more polished than their demos, but just as raw as intense.

Well, that’s this year’s list!
Hopefully you found something you haven’t heard yet and you’ll probably get another list from me in 2020.
